Know Your Rights

This planned information event will give members of the Union a valuable insight into rights as workers. The day will be split into a morning and afternoon session. Led by BECTU training official, Martin Roberts, the morning session will help members understand more about their entitlements on a Zero Hours Contract. We will also be discussing holiday and sick benefit, as well as knowing what constitutes a collective agreement. The afternoon will form a Q&A session. National official for BECTU, Pat Styles, will discuss the SOLT/BECTU agreement including Grandfather rights, contracts and other queries. There will be an opportunity to put your questions to both officials.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
As this is free to members only, we request that you bring your membership card.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

There is no parking available at BECTU. The nearest tube is Clapham North (Northern Line) which is 3 minutes walk from the Head Office. (See Map attached)

Is the day open to non members?

Non members are welcome to attend but there will be a charge of £15. Alternatively you can join BECTU before the day for just £8.33 per month (email Kathryn to find out about how to join).

Am I able to attend just the afternoon session?

Ideally we'd encourage members to attend the whole day, however if this is not possible, please let us know if you plan to attend the morning or afternoon session so we can offer either session places to other members.
